ABOUT THE PODCAST

WHO.

The Learn English Podcast is made for English learners around the world who want to improve their vocabulary, listening skills, and confidence. It is hosted by Dr. C, a TESOL-certified English teacher who created the podcast as a resource for her English learning students. Her students consistently told her that they had a difficult time understanding native speakers and were looking for resources that would help them improve their vocabulary and listening comprehension. After hearing this from multiple students over the years, she decided to create the podcast to help people learn English in the context of natural, everyday speech. It is especially useful for learners at an intermediate to upper-intermediate level, who already understand basic English but want to sound more natural and fluent. Teachers can also recommend it as an extra resource for their students.

HOW.

Many English learners study hard and learn grammar rules, but they still face difficulties when trying to understand native speakers or real-life conversations. This often happens because traditional study materials, like textbooks, do not always show how English is used in daily life. The Learn English Podcast is based on Stephen Krashen’s Input Hypothesis, which explains that people learn best when they receive input that is both understandable and slightly more advanced than their current level. This kind of “comprehensible input” helps learners expand their skills without feeling frustrated or confused. By listening to the podcast, students are exposed to real vocabulary in context, which makes it easier to understand and remember. Instead of memorizing word lists, learners hear words in full sentences and stories, just as they would in natural conversations. This approach helps build not only knowledge of vocabulary but also confidence in using English in the real world.

WHY.

Each episode of the Learn English Podcast focuses on a meaningful topic connected to culture, daily life, history, or world events. These topics are carefully chosen because they give learners a chance to meet vocabulary and expressions that they are likely to hear in real conversations or the news. Instead of simply giving definitions, the podcast explains the meaning of words with examples, stories, and comparisons, so that learners can fully understand and connect to the language. This makes the new vocabulary easier to remember and more useful when speaking or writing in English. The podcast also encourages learners to notice how words are used in context, which is an important step in developing fluency. By listening regularly, learners improve their listening comprehension, expand their vocabulary, and get used to the rhythm and style of natural English speech. Over time, this practice builds a stronger foundation and helps learners feel more confident using English in any situation.
